The story starts with Parker/Ock trying to find a killer known as Massacre. Ock attempts to put a stop to this deranged menace by violating every civil right the people of New York have, becoming the eyes and ears of the city through equipping his spider bots with sonic waves similar to what Batman did with cell phones in The Dark Knight. Slott explores a duality in a sense that Spidey/Ock actually believes that he is doing the right thing he and eventually comes to the conclusion that taking a life is justified, with the loss of some key characters and some comedic undertones put in for the laughs. I believe Slott has done something with the character that hasn't been done in years - he's made Spider-Man interesting again.
