These games featured an easy to use mechanic that allowed many creative individuals to create very intriguing level designs that looked as if they were made by the developers themselves, and published for online play. It may be a stretch for Smash game but it would be necessary as far producing quality content to keep gamers invested in the online play.
In the last game things were kept very simplistic to the point where your options for actual battle stations, obstacles, floors and backdrops were very bleak and the mechanics as whole were very underwhelming and disappointing. So here's hoping that a next installment will improve a signifcant amount over the last game's attempt at player created stages.
