In a simply stunning showcased trailer, Kirby is seen star-gliding above a galactic Mario Kart track where Mario, Donkey Kong, Luigi, Peach, and Bowser are seen racing below him. Suddenly a beam of light comes from out of nowhere and cuts Kirby off, causing him to crash down to the course below. Kirby then comes face-to-face with Luma as the racers bring their vehicles to a halt. Rosalina then appears, revealing herself as the roster's next competitor.
The trailer showed various cool moves and combinations in which Rosalina can use Luma. She even showcased a few solo moves for herself during the trailer as well. The use of the two of them together is similar to how Olimar fights, using his Pikmin friends as his main—and really, only—forms of attack and defense. This announcement is literally coming just on the heels of her recent inclusion as bonus playable character in the recently released Super Mario 3D World for the Wii U console.
Also—if all that wasn't already enough—immediately after the Smash Brothers trailer wrapped up, a new trailer was shown for the upcoming Mario Kart 8, which also revealed Rosalina to be the newest racer in the lineup for the title. Super Mario Galaxy was one of the, if not the most, beloved series that the previous Wii console had to offer, and as far as I'm concerned it deserves some recognition in a character on the next Smash roster. And who better than Princess Rosalina herself and her little star buddy?
