This November, Pokémon fans are going back to Hoenn with
Pokémon Omega Ruby and
Pokémon Alpha Sapphire. The Pokémon Company marks these releases as a fresh take on the story, told in
Pokémon Ruby and
Pokémon Sapphire, that will give fans a new world to explore.
The originals were released in 2002 in Japan and 2003 everywhere else and quickly climbed the charts to become the top game of the year. The titles still hold the record for number-one Game Boy Advance game of all time.

In the originals, the story follows the basic Pokémon blueprint. You take on the role of a trainer and work your way up through gyms to battle and beat the Pokémon Champion. It was the first title of the series to include the player’s dad, making him the gym leader in a nearby town. A subplot was also present consisting of either Team Magma or Team Aqua, two criminal organizations that wish to use legendary Pokémon to alter the climate.
In recent years, Pokémon has stepped up their game. Last year’s release of
Pokémon X and
Pokémon Y broke records as the fastest selling 3DS games. The games included customization, mini-games, and many other features fans had patiently been waiting for. Which brings up the question: What new features will be present in
Omega Ruby and
Alpha Sapphire?

Will secret bases be making a comeback? |
The last remakes released by Nintendo were
Heart Gold and
Soul Silver that came out in 2010 for the DS. The project showed that the company was capable of staying true to the originals while bringing them into the current generation of gaming that could appeal to fans new and old, leaving Ruby and Sapphire fanatics feeling hopeful.
