Well, great news for us fans, because their new Album, entitled simply V, is coming out this month! That's right! On August 29th, we'll be able to get our grubby little hands on this sucker and enjoy some new tunes. They have already released a couple of singles from it and, thus far, I like what I hear. You can pick up Maps and It Was Always You when you pre-order the album or listen to them on YouTube to check them out first, if you so desire. They sound great, there's a nice energy to them.
As a long time fan, it sounds to me like they are hearkening back a bit towards previous albums with this album's sound. It seems closer to Hands All Over. I liked Overexposed, it has some great songs on it like Payphone, One More Night and Love Somebody, but I agree with some critics that say they went a little too far into poppy disco. Nothing wrong with that, but from what the band says about V, they are heading back to their basics leaning more towards Songs About Jane. This new one will be darker. Bands change and grow and swing back and forth from one sound to the next and it will be interesting to see how this one turns out.
So any fans out there? Anyone excited or pessimistic about new music from Maroon 5? Has the band peaked already? Sound off below.
