Fanboys Anonymous

Welcome to another edition of 6 Flicks Picks, wherein I list all of the upcoming films that are scheduled to be released in the United States for the month which is about to begin and break down which ones I'll be watching in theaters, which ones I'll wait to rent at home, and which ones I'll be skipping out on entirely. After going through the list, I'll choose which six films stand out to me as the ones I want to see the most, even if there are more or less than six that interest me.

Note: The list below is based primarily off the expanded nationwide USA release dates on IMDB as well as some other random outlets if possible, so some information may be different. If I am missing some of the limited releases or the dates conflict in some fashion, please let me know in the comments below and any adjustments and corrections will be made!

Without further ado, another new month means another new set of films, so what's coming soon to theaters in June 2019?



Dark Phoenix

Synopsis: Jean Grey begins to develop incredible powers that corrupt and turn her into a Dark Phoenix. Now the X-Men will have to decide if the life of a team member is worth more than all the people living in the world.

Will I watch? = Yes

The Secret Life of Pets 2

Synopsis: Continuing the story of Max and his pet friends, following their secret lives after their owners leave them for work or school each day.

Will I watch? = Maybe

Late Night

Synopsis: A late-night talk show host suspects that she may soon be losing her long-running show.

Will I watch? = No

Pavarotti

Synopsis: A look at the life and work of opera legend Luciano Pavarotti.

Will I watch? = No


Men in Black: International

Synopsis: The Men in Black have always protected the Earth from the scum of the universe. In this new adventure, they tackle their biggest threat to date: a mole in the Men in Black organization.

Will I watch? = Yes

Shaft

Synopsis: John Shaft Jr., a cyber security expert with a degree from MIT, enlists his family's help to uncover the truth behind his best friend's untimely death.

Will I watch? = Maybe

The Last Black Man in San Francisco

Synopsis: A young man searches for home in the changing city that seems to have left him behind.

Will I watch? = No

The Dead Don't Die

Synopsis: he peaceful town of Centerville finds itself battling a zombie horde as the dead start rising from their graves.

Will I watch? = No


Toy Story 4

Synopsis: When a new toy called "Forky" joins Woody and the gang, a road trip alongside old and new friends reveals how big the world can be for a toy.

Will I watch? = Yes

Child's Play

Synopsis: A mother gives her son a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature.

Will I watch? = No

Them That Follow

Synopsis: Set deep in the wilds of Appalachia, where believers handle death-dealing snakes to prove themselves before God, Them That Follow tells the story of a pastor's daughter who holds a secret that threatens to tear her community apart.

Will I watch? = No

Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am

Synopsis: This artful and intimate meditation on the legendary story- teller examines her life, her works and the powerful themes she has confronted throughout her literary career.

Will I watch? = No


Annabelle Comes Home

Synopsis:Determined to keep Annabelle from wreaking more havoc, demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren bring the possessed doll to the locked artifacts room in their home, placing her "safely" behind sacred glass and enlisting a priest's holy blessing. But an unholy night of horror awaits as Annabelle awakens the evil spirits in the room, who all set their sights on a new target-the Warrens' ten-year-old daughter, Judy, and her friends.

Yesterday

Synopsis:A struggling musician realizes he's the only person on Earth who can remember The Beatles after waking up in an alternate timeline where they never existed.

The Other Side of Heaven 2: Fire of Faith

Synopsis: Missionary John H. Groberg returns to Tonga in the 1960s with his wife and their five young daughters. When their sixth child is born with a serious illness, the Grobergs face their ultimate test of faith, only to find themselves surrounded by the love and prayers of thousands of Tongans. Barriers of inter religious strife are soon broken down as all unite in hopes of a miracle that will save the baby's life, as well as the life of a Tongan minister's son.

Which films make the cut?

#6 and #5. Rocketman and Godzilla: King of the Monsters — Technically, these come out May 31st, but I'm cheating and adding them into here because technically, I'm not going to get a chance to see both on the same day and June 1st would be when I would have a chance to go and see one or the other. Ha. That's how you get around picking another one of these duds. I'm not into Child's Play. I don't like the quirk of The Dead Don't Die. I haven't seen The Secret Life of Pets 1, so I can't see the sequel yet.

4. Shaft — I had seen the previous Shaft film, so why not?

3. Men in Black: International — While this franchise isn't something I'm inherently super duper fond of, they do have value and this does look like it could be fun.

2. Dark Phoenix — Boy, the X-Men films have been really hit or miss, haven't they? I have little to no faith in this, but it's still an X-Men movie.
