Welcome to another edition of WEEK IN GEEK here at Fanboys Anonymous—a rundown of some of the events, news and stories that went down over the past few days in the geek culture spectrum.
Here are some of the topics I felt like voicing my opinions about:
Slow News Week
I'm actually publishing this late because there was NOTHING going on that I felt like talking about.
Sasha Banks on The Mandalorian
Finally got a chance to check out the latest episode of The Mandalorian, which featured WWE's Sasha Banks in a role that was basically 2 lines of dialogue. I'm not at all surprised she was limited in that capacity, but made out to be a bigger deal. That tends to happen a lot.
Cool that they've brought more characters from other media into the live action. I'm a fan of that, even if I'm not big on The Clone Wars series and such.
Scream 5 will be titled Scream
What is up with this trend of naming sequels the first movie? Why do we have three "Halloween" movies, for instance? I get if it's a reboot, but if it's a sequel (like how this is Scream 5) then why are you calling it the same as the first movie?? This is one of the most baffling things that has been a trend in recent cinema that I can't wrap my mind around. Just call it Scream 5 or some kind of subtitle. Also, calling something The ___ isn't a big difference, either, a la The Predator. Take 5 minutes to think of a proper title.
